Carol Mead
Carol Mead has been a professional dancer in the companies of Martha Graham, the Nikolais Dance Theatre and the Murray Louis Dance Company. In 1990, Carol and late husband, Julian Littleford moved to San Diego and opened J.L. Body Conditioning, Inc, a pilates studio that they owned and operated for 28 years. After moving to San Diego, Carol produced and performed a solo concert in 1992 while directing the dance program and teaching full time at The Bishops’ School in La Jolla. Carol ran the dance program at Bishop’s School until 2001. Her teaching career started when she was only 20 years old at the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in New York. She has also taught at Florida State University, Randolph – Macon College, at the American Dance Festival at Duke University, UCSD and most recently at CSU -Fullerton. Currently, Carol teaches the Pilates method at La Shores Physical Therapy and is an independent dance teacher. She is now a member the transceDANCE Board of Directors, after serving on their 10th anniversary adjunct committee.
