We are so excited to welcome you and your dancer to the transcenDANCE family.
transcenDANCE Youth Arts Project is a Creative Youth Development organization located in National City, CA. Our mission is to guide youth in San Diego communities to transcend barriers, expand ambitions, and create positive change through dance and performance.
For our students, transcenDANCE isn’t just a place to learn how to dance. It’s a safe space and safety net, a place where they’re free to be authentic and seen for who they are, a sanctuary of wellbeing and mindfulness, and a compass to navigate the challenges and triumphs of adolescence and beyond. Our unique programs combine rigorous dance training with community and expressive arts and social change curriculum that can transform student’s lives.
The CREATE Performance Group is a unique program where students explore dance and performance as vital tools to develop the skills they need to live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. Our programs are focused on developing self-confidence, resilience, communication, leadership, collaboration, initiative, 
ambition, and more. Students meet after school and on Saturdays to participate in dance technique classes, writing/theater workshops, social change curriculum lessons, community partner workshops, and social-emotional learning experiences. All of this practice and training culminates in a professionally produced evening-length dance theater production at a professional venue in San Diego.
Please download and fill out the transcenDANCE enrollment and consent forms for your dancer. We must have these forms completed and returned for your dancer to be eligible for participation in CREATE Performance Group activities. We also require parents/guardians to attend an orientation group session at our National City studio.
We often ask students to put their cell phones away and turn them to silent during class. Should you need to get in touch with your dancer immediately during program hours, please call our office at (619) 474-4903.
